Aaliyah

Das Schicksal, dass der jungen Aaliyah Dani Haughton widerfahren ist, gleicht einer Tragödie. Nach dem Shooting für das Video „Rock da Boat“ auf den Bahamas, ist Aaliyah auf dem Nachhauseweg nach Florida mit einem Flugzeug abgestürzt. Das Unglück geschah am 25. August 2001, kurz nach dem Start vom Flughafen Marsh Harbour gegen 18:50 Uhr Ortszeit. Die zweimotorige Privatmaschine, eine Cessna (Typ 402), stürzte noch während des Startvorgangs ab und ging sofort in Flammen auf. Für Aaliyah und sechs Mitreisende kam jede Hilfe zu spät, lediglich zwei Passagiere konnten mit schwersten Verletzungen geborgen und ins Krankenhaus gebracht werden, starben aber wenig später ebenfalls. ...so wurde Aaliyah schmerzhaft von uns genommen, obwohl sie erst am Anfang ihrer Karriere stand.
